Staffic Screen Recordings is employee screen recording software built into the Staffic time tracker. On the Elite plan, the desktop app records video while a member's timer runs, and each recording is filed with its block's project, task, time range and activity level. Session recordings
Replay the work behind a tracked hour
Recordings sit next to screenshots and timesheets, tied to the same member, project and task, so you know which session you're watching.
Pick a member and a date in the last 7 days to see their recordings grouped by hour. Each card shows the project, task, time range, activity level and active minutes, with a Play button and the video's length.

Recording stays off until an admin turns on Session recording (beta) for the organization. Then each member has a Recordings (beta) switch under Individual members, so roles that don't need video stay off and keep their time tracking.

Control and privacy
You decide who is recorded
Session recording (beta) is off in every new organization. Nothing is recorded until an admin turns it on, and then only during tracked time.
- Turn Session recording (beta) on or off for the whole organization
- Switch recording off for any member while their time tracking continues
- Members with Tracking off are not recorded
- Let members delete their own recordings with the Members can delete screenshots and recordings switch, or keep every one (off by default)
- Admins and roles with Remote Track access see the team's recordings; members see their own
- Recordings are kept for 7 days, then deleted automatically

How to set up screen recording in Staffic
Four steps on the Elite plan, from the settings switch to your first replayed session.
Screen Recordings needs the Elite plan. Each member installs Staffic on Windows, macOS or Linux and signs in.
Download StafficSwitch on Session recording (beta) for the organization. The settings warn that recording uses a lot of local resources, so older computers may not work well with it.

Install the Staffic desktop app on each work computer and have members track time on their projects and tasks. While the timer runs, Staffic records activity from keyboard and mouse, the apps and URLs in use, screenshots on every plan, and screen recordings on Elite. It's software to track employee computer usage during work time only: nothing is recorded while the timer is off.

Does screen recording only run while an employee is tracking time?
Yes. Staffic records the screen only during tracked time in the desktop app, and each recording belongs to the tracked block it was made in, with that block's project, task and activity level. When the timer stops, so does the recording.
How long are screen recordings stored?
Staffic keeps screen recordings for 7 days, then deletes them automatically from its servers and cloud storage. The tracked time stays in your timesheets. To keep a recording longer, download it from the player, or download the whole day from the Recordings page, before it expires.
What video formats do Staffic screen recordings use?
Staffic screen recordings are MP4 or WebM video files. They play in the web app's player, and downloads keep the same format, so a standard video player can open them.
Can I turn screen recording off for specific members?
Yes. Once Session recording (beta) is on for the organization, use the Recordings (beta) switch next to each member under Settings, Activity & privacy, Individual members. A member with recording off keeps their time tracking, screenshots and activity, and a member with Tracking off isn't recorded at all.
How do screenshots differ from full session recordings?
Screenshots are still images and recordings are video. Employee screenshot monitoring in Staffic takes 2 captures in every 10 minutes by default (or 1, 2 or 3) on every plan, and keeps them for 365 days. Session recordings are video of tracked time on Elite, kept for 7 days, for work a single frame can't explain, like a bug reproduction or a client walkthrough.
