How to Use Clock In/Out

Record precise start and end times for shifts — separate from project time tracked in the desktop app, but essential for attendance and payroll policies.

Clock In/Out

  1. Open Clock In/Out

Go to AttendanceClock In/Out under Manage in the left sidebar. Use Search by member name, the Member filter, and date range picker to narrow the log. Click Export when you need a file for payroll or HR.

Clock In/Out attendance log grouped by date with member clock in, clock out, and time worked columns
  2. Read the attendance log

Punches are grouped by day (for example, Thu, May 21, 2026). Each row is one member’s shift for that date.

    • Member Name

Profile and name of who punched — use search or Member filter to find one person.

    • Clock In

Start time for the shift (for example, 07:44 AM). Hover the header info icon for how clock in is defined in your org.

    • Clock Out

End time (for example, 08:02 PM). Missing clock out is an exception to fix before payroll.

    • Time Worked

Duration between clock in and clock out (for example, 7h 41m) — Staffic calculates this from the punch pair.

  3. Member: punch in and out

When your organization uses attendance punches, Clock In when you start your shift or arrive on site. Clock Out when you finish — including breaks if your policy requires a separate punch. You can still run the desktop tracker for project and task time while clocked in.

    • Forgot to clock out

Edit or correct the entry if your role allows, or ask a manager to fix it before payroll.

    • Remote work

Some teams clock in at the start of the workday even when tracking projects remotely — follow your company rule.

Clock In/Out is available on all plans with time tracking. Shift schedules and color-coded status may require Elite — see Pricing.

  4. Manager: review and export

Scan each date group for missing rows, odd durations, or members with no clock out. Compare Time Worked on this page to Timesheets for the same day — large gaps may mean someone tracked project time but forgot to punch (or the reverse).

    • Daily review

Open yesterday and today each morning to confirm the team clocked in as expected.

    • Export

Use Export for payroll files or HR audits for the filtered date range and members.

    • Exceptions

Missing clock out, duplicate punches, or clock time that does not match tracked hours — correct before Payroll.

Pair with Reports → Time & Activity when you need project-level detail beyond punch times.

Tips

  • Clock in at the start of the paid shift, then start the desktop tracker on the correct project and task.
  • Managers: compare clock totals to Timesheets weekly, not only at pay date.
  • Enable shift schedules on Elite if you need expected vs actual start times.
