How to Use Work Notes

Add and review notes on time entries so approvers and clients understand what was done.

Work Notes

  1. Open Work Notes

    Go to TimesheetsWork Notes (`/user/timesheet/work-notes`). This page lists notes across entries for the selected member and period.

  2. Add notes from a timesheet

    You can also attach a note while editing an entry on Daily or Weekly views — it syncs to Work Notes for managers to search during approval.

    • What to write

      Deliverable name, ticket ID, client call summary, or reason for manual time — enough context for approval without micromanaging.

    • Who sees notes

      Members see their own; managers see notes for people they can review. Follow your company policy on client-visible vs internal notes.

Tips

  • Require a note on manual entries over a threshold (for example, 2+ hours) in your team policy.
  • Reference the project and task in the note when one day spans multiple clients.
